Jean-Guy Deslauriers

Born in September 3, 1940, in La Tuque, Haute-Mauricie, Québec. J.G Deslauriers is a self-taught. He is mainly attracted to color which ha has been exploring since 1960. He saw quite a lot of Léo Ayotte, Iacurto, Bellerive who was his mentor from 1962 to 1965, and Stanley Cosgrove who impressed him very much and gave his this motto: “work, work, work…”.

Since 1960, many exhibitions and previews in the following galleries: Galerie Richard Riverin, Laval (1964-1992), Galerie d'Art Canadien, Montréal (1981); Central Museum of Tokyo, Japan (May-June 1991), Greenery Show, Yokohama, Japan, since July 1991. In 1985, Domtar selected four of Jean-Guy Deslauriers's oil paintings to represent the Province of Québec in its agenda distributed in 47 countries. On the other hand, Télébec used one of his oil paintings to illustrate the cover page of its 220 000 telephone directories distributed in 14 regions. At the end of the ‘80s, he received a mention for the excellence at the Grand Prix de peinture canadien. In 1991, he became a member of the Japan International Artists Society. Guide Vallée III.
